Michael S. Mike Miller, age 49, of rural Huron, died Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 19, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. Michael S. Miller was born on September 19, 1957, to James and Cleo (Burvee) Miller at Huron, SD. He grew up in Huron and attended Buchanan Grade School and graduated from Huron High School. He was employed at the Plains for a number of years. He also worked along with his father on the farm with cattle. On November 28, 1979, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at El Toro, CA, and Okinawa, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on September 5, 1985. On August 6, 1983, Mike married Sharon Lucero at Adobe Hills, NM. They returned to the Huron/Virgil area in August of 1985, and Mike has lived here since that time. He was employed with Meyer Modernizing for 20 years installing siding and windows. He was an avid reader with a special interest in history and aviation. He won many awards in foosball, played league softball, pool, enjoyed playing golf, loved to fish since he was a young boy, enjoyed riding motorcycles, photography, and horseback riding. Mike had a terrific sense of humor. He is survived by 3 children, Adria Miller of Isleta, NM, Bill Miller of Vermillion, SD, and Ben (Nidia) Miller of Huron; his mother, Cleo Miller of Huron; 2 sisters, Janice (Ken) Paulsen of Ramsey, MN, and Vickie Rogers of Huron; 1 brother, Larry Miller of Pierre; and a number of nieces nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his father, James in 1995.
