May Foote, age 87, of Huron, formerly of Yale, SD, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the SunQuest Health Care Center in Huron. Her Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at the LeSeuer Cemetery in rural Bancroft, SD. Her visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. May Sharp, the daughter of James O. and Pearl (Cozad) Sharp, was born on December 28, 1924, in Haigler, NE. May attended school and graduated from Haigler High School in 1942. During World War II, May worked in the Defense Plant in Denver, CO. She then moved to Omaha, NE, and worked for C.A. Swanson Foods, Cudahy and Swift Meat Packing Plants, and as a concessionaire in the Outdoor Amusement Business for 25 years, before moving to Freemont, NE, and working for the Campbell Soup Company. May was then employed as the lead cook at the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County until her retirement. May married Donald C. Foote. May and Donald moved to Yale, SD, in 1985. May is survived by her brother, Lester Sharp of Mountain View, MO; two brothers-in-law, Cecil G. (Jean) Foote of Inland, NE, and Buck Pruitt of Durango, CO; sister-in-law, Darlene Sharp of Haviland, KS; and several nieces and nephews. May was preceded on death by her parents; her husband, Don; four brothers: Thomas, Henry, and twins Jean and James; and two sisters, Iona and Katie.
