Obituary

Maxine Krutzfeldt, age 81, of Huron, died Saturday, November 20, 2010, at her home.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church in Huron will burial at 10:00 am at Ideal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Thelma Maxine Krutzfeldt was born January 8, 1929 in Broadland, SD, to Arthur and Freda (Ehrk) Petersen. She attended the Huron School System. When Maxine finished school, she traveled to California and Oregon, staying with family before returning to Huron.

Maxine married Wallace Windy Krutzfeldt on May 18, 1948 in Huron.

Maxine eventually would find her niche in life and would be a familiar face in the grocery business of Ed & Ebs, as well as the Red Owl, and Jack and Jill Grocery stores. She worked in the grocery business for over 45 years before retiring in 1998.

Maxine was in the HRMC active Auxiliary group, the Pink Ladies. Max was a people person. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, pheasant hunting, rodeos, and traditional Country and Western music.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane (Stephen) Stevens of Huron; grandson, Lucas Stevens of Grand Forks, ND; brothers, Dwayne Peterson of Huron, Richard (Fran) Petersen of Derby, KS; sister-in-law, Ruth Krutzfeldt of Huron; special family members, Savannah and Nathan Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace in 2005; sister-in-law, Loretta Petersen; and brother-in-law, Clarence Krutzfeldt.
