Obituary

Maxine Y. Krause, age 78 of Huron formerly of Alpena, died on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.

Her Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the United Parish of Alpena with burial at Eventide Cemetery in Woonsocket.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday, May 14, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Friday night; or one hour prior to the service at the Church in Alpena, on Saturday.

Maxine Yvonne Lehr the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Orth) Lehr was born on March 7, 1932 in Alpena, SD. She attended schools and graduated from Alpena High School in 1950. Maxine married Dale Kistler on April 14, 1952 in Mitchell, SD. To this union were born 3 children. Maxine and her husband Dale owned and operated the Alpena Grocery Store and Dales Grocery in Woonsocket, SD for many years. Dale died in 1980.

On October 16, 1981, Maxine married Wilbur Krause at Mitchell, SD. They made their home in Prescott Valley, AZ where Maxine worked at a window factory, and for the Forest Service They moved back to Alpena, SD in 1997.

Maxine was a member of the United Parish of Alpena, and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing bingo, tole painting, reading, listening to music, and collecting cookbooks and owls. Maxine was a great lover of dogs.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Kim (Julie) Kistler of Phoenix, AZ; her 2 daughters, Teresa (Gary) Clayton of Gregory, SD, and Jolene (Steve) Passenheim of Alpena, SD; 9 grandchildren, Carissa (Bill) Hall; Corey Kistler; Jay (Shelly) Clayton; Zach, Haley Clayton; Alissia (Earl) Hacking; Tracy (Shawn Brannam) Delvaux; Chris (Candace) Delvaux; and Brian Passenheim; 6 step-children; 11 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Fern (Al) Wenz of Huron; brother, Ellwood (Lorraine) Lehr of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dale in 1980; her second husband, Wilbur in 2007; step-son, Ben Krause; 1 grandchild; and 1 great-grandchild.
