Mary Lois Tyrrell was born on December 5, 1956 to parents Phillip and Laura (Dent) Tyrrell near Yale, South Dakota. She attended school in Yale and DeSmet.
She married Royal King in April of 1974. They had one son, Jesse, and later divorced. In 1980, she married John Lindberg and had daughter, Missy. The family made their home in Jamestown where Mary worked at the State Hospital. The family later moved to Redfield. She worked as a secretary at the Redfield Community Hospital for most of her career. She found love with her significant other, Monte Neitzel, for many years.
In 2012, she was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer, given only 3 months to live. She had a strong will to live, beating many odds. She enjoyed cooking for large groups, tending to a vegetable and flower garden and canning. She was a social person and enjoyed being outdoors.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Jesse (Jennifer Ostrum) King of Billings, Montana and their son, Maximus; Missy (Travis) Lorenzen of Watertown and their children, Cayden, Silas, Elliott, and Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Butch and Laura; Doug Tyrrell, Duane Tyrrell, Bitsy Warnell and Mark Tyrrell; and nephew Tommy Warnell.
