Mary I. Timm, age 93, of Albert Lea, MN, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the St. John's Lutheran Community in Albert Lea, MN.

Her graveside service will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron, SD.

Mary I. Jewett, the daughter of Artie and Maggie (Jones) Jewett, was born on August 29, 1924 in Locust Grove, OK.  She attended schools in Locust Grove, OK.

Mary met her husband of 49 years, William Timm while working at a defense plant in San Diego, CA during World War II. The couple were married ten days later on November 29, 1942 in Yuma, AZ.  After William was drafted into the U.S. Army, Mary moved back to Locust Grove, OK and began working in an Ammunitions Plant.  After William was wounded, Mary received a telegram saying that he had been killed in the war.  Thankfully two weeks later this was proven to be false and the couple was reunited again after William was discharged from the Army.

The couple farmed in Huron until 1966 when they moved to Rock Falls, IL and then to  Brewster, MN from 1973-1978.  Their son, Dwayne, graduated from Brewster High School in 1977.  In 1978, Mary and William moved to Albert Lea, MN so that William could take a new job at Land O Lakes Foods. Their daughter, Kathy, graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1984.

Mary and William were proud to have raised four children. After retiring in 1986, they began to spend their winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona.

Mary attended Presbyterian churches in Brewster, MN and Rock Falls, IL. And the Methodist church in Huron, SD. Mary enjoyed, gardening, sewing, and knitting. Mary and William also loved square dancing, and were members of square dancing clubs in Huron, Worthington, MN and Albert Lea, MN.  They even had the privilege of square dancing for President Jimmy Carter's Presidential Inauguration.

Grateful for having shared in Mary's life are her children: David (Theresa) Timm of Ogden, UT, Dwayne Timm of Albert Lea, MN, and Kathy (Tony) Thompson of Glenville, MN; granddaughters, Casey and Paige, and grandson, David; two sisters, Shirley Neal of Locust Grove, OK and Ilah Grace of Chandler, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents: husband, William in 1992; son, Darrell Timm; and brothers: Claude, Doyle, Jess, and Artie Jr. Jewett.
