Her funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Our Home Inc of Huron, or Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and School. Mary Belle Patrick was born March 11, 1921, to Edward and Effie Mae (Mozingo) Patrick in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Anthony J. Ratchford, Sr., on February 16, 1942, in Kansas City, MO. During World War II, Mary worked in an ammunition factory while her husband served in the U.S. Army. They moved to Huron, SD, in 1945 where they made their home and opened an after hours steak house called The Prairie Moon and later P&R Vending and Manford Music. Mary gave birth to five children and is survived by four, Meri Remick, Federal Way, WA, Tony Jr. (Mary), Sioux Falls, SD, Linda (Tom) Duffek, Omaha, NE, and Christine (Greg) Goehner, Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren, Toni Jo and Daymon Woodruff, Cheriese Dickman, Christopher, John and Mike Duffek, Brandon and Sean Goehner, David and Megan Ratchford; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Carol Patrick and family of Mt Vernon, MO; and special friends, Joanie Buccholz and family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Barber in 1993; and her husband, Tony Sr. in 1980. Mary will be remembered for her love of family, generous spirit, taking pride in her beautiful home and garden, and service to her church and community.
