Mary Ann Peck, age 81, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, SD, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at SunQuest Helathcare Center in Huron.
Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, at First United Methodist Church with a private burial service of her cremated remains.
There will be no visitation.
Mary Peck was born Mary Ann Johnson on July 18, 1927, to Charles and Hannah (Houston) Johnson in Mitchell, SD. She grew up and attended schools in Mitchell. She worked for Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. It was at this time that she met Everett E. Peck, then a student at Huron College.
On September 5, 1946, Mary Ann married Everett Peck in Mitchell. Together they had three sons, Everett E. Jr. Freddy, Douglas Houston, and Matthew James.
Mary Ann worked at Perriton's and Little Z. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for the church. She was an avid reader, an excellent seamstress, and a clever decorator.
She is survived by her three sons, Everett Freddy Peck of Sioux Falls, Douglas Peck of Huron, and Matthew (Connie Bowar) Peck of Sioux Falls; her sister, Hannah Hessler of Vacaville, CA; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett; a sister, Lila; and a brother, Chuck.
