Obituary

Mary Minium, age 96, of Miller, SD, and formerly of Wessington, died Monday, December 25, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center at Miller. Her funeral mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, December 29 at St. Josephs Catholic Church at Wessington with Father Paul Nereparampil-Lonappen officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis. Friends may call this Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or Friday morning prior to the mass at the church. Mary Minium was born Mary Barnhart on September 24, 1910, to Leonard and Katherine (Pitz) Barnhart at Aberdeen, SD, where she grew up and graduated from Aberdeen High School. On November 17, 1941, Mary married Ivyl Minium. Ivyl was in the U.S. Air Force and, during his military career, the couple spent 20 years traveling to different military stations until his retirement in 1962. They then moved to the family farm near Wolsey. In 1978 they moved to Wessington and in 1990 they made their home on Cottonwood Lake near Redfield. Mary was an active member of St. Josephs Catholic Church at Wessington, and the Watson-Krauter American Legion Post # 110 Auxiliary at Wessington. She is survived by a niece and 2 nephews, Mary Ellen Edeus of Bonita Springs, FL, William J. Kausch of Baltimore, MD, and Jerry Barnhart of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ivyl on August 29, 1994.
