Mary J. Dammeier, age 95, of Big Lake, MN, and formerly of Huron, passed away on Sunday, March 13th at her home in Big Lake. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 17th at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior the funeral service at the church.
Mary was born on January 4, 1921 in rural Carpenter, SD to Joseph K. and Susanna M. (Kleinsasser) Wipf. She attended school at Wheeler School in rural Carpenter and the Yale Public School. Mary was united in marriage to Wayne E. Dammeier, Sr. on July 15, 1948 in Huron and they lived in Huron and Sioux Falls. She worked at Fairmont Foods and food service at Huron High School for many years. Mary moved to Big Lake, MN in 2013 to be closer to her son Wayne, Jr. She was a member of the Huron Mission Church/Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron.
She is survived by her son Wayne E. (Janice) Dammeier, Jr. of Big Lake, MN; and
3 grandchildren, Justin Dammeier of San Antonio, TX, Joel Dammeier, and Jillian Dammeier, both of Big Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wayne in 1993, 1 sister, and 6 brothers.
