Marvin Moilan, age 90, of Huron, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. His funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service; or one hour prior to service at the church. Marvin's family would like to request memorials be directed to the American Lutheran Church in Huron. Marvin Warren Moilan Sr. was born September 19, 1920 to Henry and Sophia (Kernanen) Moilan in rural Hamlin County, near Lake Norden. He attended country school thru 8th grade in Hamlin Country. Marvin married Delores Hansen in 1947 and then later married Wanda Jansen on June 20, 1956 in Pipestone, MN. Marvin, in his early years, worked as a farmer, shipbuilder during WWII, well driller, and carpenter. Later, he worked as a custodian and Building and Grounds Supervisor for Huron public schools for 25 years. Marvin retired to Hot Springs, SD, in 1983. After retirement, he worked for Jack Hunter Sound Ardmore, SD, and had a lawn care and cleaning service until the age of 89, in Hot Springs, SD. The couple returned to Huron in September 2010 due to health concerns and to be close to family. Marvin enjoyed bowling, softball, including church league until age 55, fishing, hunting, and taking care of his lawn. He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Huron, St. John's Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, AFSCME, South Dakota Democratic Party, and the South Dakota Farmers Union. Marvin is survived by his wife, Wanda Moilan of Huron; eight children, Linda Moilan of Egan, MN, Janet Floyd of Huron, Marvin W. (Tessie) Moilan Jr. of Huron, Carol (Jim) Milbrandt of Huron, David Beyer of Milwaukee, WI, Eva (Ron) Wipf of Huron, Jewel (Reggie) Tschetter of Huron, Mark (Deb) Moilan of Huron; 13 grandchildren, Jason (Tracy) Tschetter, Michelle (Aaron) Gilbert, Amy Tschetter, Michael (Stephanie Brtek) Moilan, Melanie Wipf, Megan (David) Moeding, Katrina (Brad) White, Robert (Danielle) Milbrandt, Lucas Milbrandt, Jordan Wipf, John Moilan, Melanie (Rob) Timm, Travis (Mylene) Funderburk; 12 great grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson, and Ella Tschetter, Logan, Zachary, Isabel, and Max Gilbert, Cooper and Samantha Timm, Natalie and Caleigh Funderburk, Veronika White, and one to be born October, 2011, many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Cooper; and granddaughter, Amy Rose Christopherson; brothers, Herbert (Alma), Harry, Edwin (Julia), Wesley, and Vincent (Eunice) Moilan; sisters, Vivian (Lester) Miner, Mabel (Fred) Koisti, Frances Jean (Henry) Steffensen, Joyce (Richard) Poore, Pearl (Alfred) Antijunti, Mildred Moilan, Patricia (Charles) Rasmussen, Ferne (Keith) Osberg, Gladys (Benny) Brist, and one infant sister, Elsa Beth Moilan
