Marvin J. Kelley, age 93, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 5, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron or one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marvin Junior Kelley, the son of Alfred and Amanda (Schmidt) Kelley was born on September 22, 1925 in Huron, South Dakota.  He attended school and graduated from Yale High School.

Marvin was very hardworking man.  He was a lifelong farmer before retiring in 1992. He sold all types of insurance from 1963 until the day of his death. He served as the Township Assessor for 15 years and worked for the State Crop Reporting Service from 1963 until 1989.  Marvin was also a carpenter, a landlord, sold seed corn, worked at the local grocery store during the holidays, and was a land manager for many years. Marvin was a devout Christian and family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Marvin married Lila Welch in 1944 and had one son Daniel. Marvin married Arlene Hein in 1951 and had three children, Gary, Deanna and Kathy Kelley. Marvin married Nancy Fanger in 1977. Marvin married Ruth Krohmer in 1991 and had two daughters, Nicole and Sonya and gained a stepdaughter, Linda.

Marvin was an avid camper and was a member of the Beadle Bums Camping Club and the Winnebago Camping Club.  He also loved gardening, playing cards, hunting, and visiting with friends.

Grateful for having shared in Marvin's life are his wife Ruth of Huron; sons, Daniel and Caroline Kelley of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Gary Kelley of Huron; daughters Nicole (Tim Fritz) Weber of Zimmerman, Minnesota and Linda (Bret) Spencer of Yankton, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Kelley and Darlene Ford both of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Deanna, Kathy, and Sonya Kelley; six brothers, Bert, Roy, Delmer, Alfred "Bud" Jr. and George Kelley and Harold Jaeger; six sisters: Frances Hornig, Belva Schley, Viola Pinkal, Sylvia Maas, Viola Glanzer, and Violet Jaeger.
