He attended country school near Douglas, NE, and later attended the Cavour Public School. During his growing up years he and his brother, Jim, were almost inseparable and were well known in the area for their antics and having very little fear of almost nothing! Marvin entered the U.S. Army on August 20, 1953, at the close of the Korean War, serving stateside and receiving an honorable discharge on May 19, 1955. For a brief time the family resided in Black Hawk, SD, where Marvin was employed as a mechanic. Following this they returned to the Cavour area where they were engaged in farming on the same farm that his parents had moved the family to when coming from Nebraska many years earlier. On December 12, 1988, Marvin married Norma Hein. He enjoyed attending the school basketball games and particularly was delighted to be able to attend and watch during the years when his grandsons played on the team. Due to health needs Marvin entered the Huron Nursing Home in December of 2005. He is survived by 2 daughters, Diane (Greg) Blue of Cavour, and JoAnn (Rod) Kretchmer of Cavour; 4 grandchildren, Tom (Tenaya) Kretchmer, Sheri Blue, Kelly (Steve) McDermott, and A.J.
