Marvin Eckmann, age 92, of Huron, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Riverview United Methodist Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Huron. Military Honors will be conducted by the Huron Veteran's Council.
Visitation, with his family present, will be from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Marvin Glen Eckmann was born on June 16, 1932 to parents Fred and Mary (Haigh) Eckmann in Huron, South Dakota. Marvin attended and graduated from Cavour High School in 1950. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served honorably for 2 years.
Marvin married Rose Marie Mueller on June 12, 1955 in Huron. They made their home south of Cavour where they farmed and raised their two sons, Rick and Scot. They later moved to Huron and Marvin continued to help on the farm until this last year.
In addition to farming, Marvin served on the James Valley Co-op Board, member of the National Farmers Organization and the Huron Area Antique Power Association. He was an elder at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and later joined Riverview United Methodist Church. He also worked for the Huron School District for 12 years.
Marv is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rose of Huron; sons, Rick (Peggy) of Cavour and Scot of Cavour; grandchildren, Beth (Brandon) Neitzert of Cavour, Colton (Tiffany) Eckmann of Cavour, Jenna (Brian) Diede of Huron, Lacey (Shad) Larson of Iroquois, Kahlie (Garrett) Smith of Hitchcock, and Lexi (Houstyn) Heinz of Huron; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Clyde Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.
Great-Grandchildren; Dawson, Madelynn, Bradyn, Grace and Harper Diede, Taelyn, Layten, Kylan, and Dettyn Larson, Janae, Blayke, Trace, and Stella Smith, Landri Heinz, Viola, Tristan, and Amara Eckmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary; brother and sister-in-law, Darold and Ila Eckmann; sisters-in-law, Patricia and Phyllis Mueller; and nieces Judy Dubro and Tammy Andersen.
