Obituary

Marvin Coil, age 88, of 1251 Arizona Ave. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call this Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:30 to 8:30 PM this Thursday evening at the funeral home. Marvin F. Coil was born on October 1, 1917, to Fredrick and Ollie (Palmer) Coil at Wessington, SD. He attended Sand Creek Country School prior to working for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Chamberlain. After a couple of years there he returned to Wessington where he lived for a short period of time prior to moving to Vallejo, CA, where he worked in the shipyards. He returned to Wessington, and on May 19, 1947, Marvin married Lucille Foster at Ivanhoe, MN. The couple made their home in Huron where Marvin worked for Armour and Company for 30 years. He retired in 1980. They moved to Yale, SD, where they lived for 21 years. They returned to Huron in 2001 and lived at SunQuest Village. Marvin became a resident of the Huron Nursing Home in September of 2004. In 1952, he became a member of the Huron Moose Lodge #760, where he held the office of District Governor 3 separate times, and was Secretary from 1978-1979. He held all offices except the Office of Prelate. In the Lodge he belonged to the Legion of the Moose since 1970 and is a Fellow. He also served 2 terms as District President for District 4. He enjoyed watching television, playing cards, traveling, dancing, yard work and his Dixon riding lawnmower, and was very proud of his cars. He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Huron; 1 daughter, Dorinda Huth of Yale; 3 sons, Allyn (Virginia) Simonich of Adrian, MN, Rodney (Kathy) Coil of Belvidere, IL, and Marvin Freddy (Marsha) Coil, Jr., of Hermosa, SD; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Delores Mettler, and infant Josephine Coil; 1 granddaughter, Tonya Coil, and 1 great grandson, Barry Salter. , age 88, of 1251 Arizona Ave. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home.
