Obituary

Marvelle E. Logue, age 103, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, and formerly of Webster, SD, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 29, at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM Friday at the Welter Funeral Home. Marvelle Logue was born Marvelle Echo Brown on December 11, 1901, to Leslie and Myrtle (Plumb) Brown at Merrill, IA. She and her twin sister, Mervelle, grew up at Artesian. Marvelle came to Huron in 1921 to attend Huron College where she received her certificate to teach public school in 1924. She taught at public schools in Esmond and Faulkton. In 1925, Marvelle married Dalton Logue at Woonsocket. They lived at Artesian, Esmond, Coleridge, NE, Sioux Falls, Huron, and for 25 years at Webster. She became a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home on March 3, 1995. Marvelle belonged to the Webster Bridge Club for many years. She enjoyed writing rhythmical ditties about her family and herself. I love to sing - not good, but loud, she once wrote about herself. She is survived by a nephew-in-law, Leland Allen of Huron; 2 great nieces, Randi Allen of Long Beach, CA, and Lee Ann (Patrick) Jones of Fullerton, CA; 1 great great nephew, Scott Allen Jones of Colorado Springs, CO; and 1 great great niece, Jodi Brandon of Costa Mesa, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dalton on September 18, 1993; her twin sister, Mervelle Threadgold on June 11, 1984; her brother-in-law, Ray Threadgold on April 29, 1994; and a niece, Patricia Allen on December 21, 2000.
