Martina M. Krentz, age 87, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron and formerly of Iroquois, died Monday, August 18, 2008 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Iroquois, with burial at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. or Friday morning one hour prior to the mass at the church. Martina Krentz was born Maura Martina McTighe on January 4, 1921, to Cumian Joseph and Marguerite (Swafford) McTighe at Cedar Canyon, SD. She attended school at Faith, SD. In October 1949, Martina married Earl Schadt. They lived in Pierre before moving to California in 1953. In 1959, they moved to Bancroft where they lived on farm. She was a home health nurse and LPN at the Huron Nursing Home. On May 23, 1986, she married Homer Carl Krentz at St. Martin's Church in Huron. She has lived in Huron since that time. She was a very active volunteer in Huron, was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and the Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Abdelrazig of Sioux Falls, and Margie Parker of Brandon, FL; 1 stepson Bruce (Marilyn) Krentz of Wagner; 1 stepdaughter, Carol Stellner of Aberdeen; 6 grandchildren, Amy, Ella, William, Kari, Joseph, and Britta; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Joe McTighe; 5 sisters, Helen Nuzum, Sister Marie McTighe, Dorothy Schoenfelder, Amy Gruntmier, and Elizabeth Sundstrom; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her son, Earl William Schadt in 1979, one stepson Wayne Krentz and a sister Geraldine Salem.
