Martha Miller was born on January 22, 1916 near Kulm, North Dakota to John and Louisa (Ost) Miller. She attended school through eighth grade. On September 22, 1940, Martha married Art Goehner at a country church near Kulm, ND. Martha helped Art farm for many years until Art's allergies forced him to try something new. She also worked for a couple years at the Tschetter Holm Clinic. Martha was also an important part of A & K Barber Shop, which her husband and now her sons own and operate. Until the age of 97, she made sure the shop was clean and the laundry was done. She was a very active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and was a member of various church groups. Martha was known for her German cooking. She liked to garden, sew, do puzzles, and help Art with his wood work projects. Martha loved to journal; she had diaries dating back to the time when she first met Art.
