Marsha DeVries, age 69, of 1444 Illinois Ave. SW, Huron, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 9:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 9:00 PM or one hour prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. Marsha DeVries was born Marsha Joan Erickson on September 12, 1938, to Philip and Doris (Flood) Erickson at Huron, SD. She attended grade school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1956. On June 17, 1956, Marsha married Richard DeVries at the First United Methodist Church in Huron. They made their home in Huron where she has lived all her life. She was employed as the receptionist at the Huron Clinic for 32 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, long-time choir member, Sonshine Squad, Degree of Honor, South Dakota Peace Officers Auxiliary, City Band, Jobs Daughters, and Lake Byron Association. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Kevin) Eckmann of Huron and Lori (Bob) Kearney of Watertown; one son, Darin DeVries of Stratford, SD; five grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Eckmann, Angie (Curt) Reindl, Elizabeth (Matt) Pester, Joshua (Jennifer) DeVries, Jonathan DeVries; four great grandchildren, Jayden and Natalie DeVries, Alec Pester, and Dylan Reindl; three sisters, Marilyn (Roger) Bauer of Billings, MT, Deanna Kooyman of Huron, and Shelley (J.D.) Noonan of Huron; her mother-in-law, Rozella DeVries of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on June 23, 1993, her parents, and one brother, Richard Erickson on September 9, 1954.
