Marlys Kay Gamber, age 76 of Huron, SD passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Her service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a luncheon to follow, and burial at the Wessington Cemetery in Wessington, SD at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, June 19, at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Marlys Kay Davis, the daughter of Archie E. and Lorine (Metschke) Davis, was born on October 17, 1942 in Wessington, SD. She attended School and graduated from Wessington High School. Kay worked as a cook for the SunQuest Healthcare Center for many years until her retirement in 2011. She also helped Her husband Jim manage the Belmont Estates and the Huron Arms for over 28 years.
Kay married James Gamber on February 3, 1962 in Colorado Springs, CO. Kay lived in Wessington, SD and Colorado Springs, CO before moving to Huron, SD
Kay loved to read and cook. She loved spending time with her family and friends and making big Sunday dinners for the whole family to enjoy.
Grateful for having shared in Kay's life are her husband, James H. Gamber of Huron, SD; daughter Gail (James) Thomas of Pierre, SD; Grandson, Thomas Fischer of Pierre, SD; her mother Lorine Davis of Huron, SD; brother, Ronald (Dorothy) Davis of Thorton, CO; sisters-in-law : Joan Gilbert, June (Dale) Metter, and Jinx (Steve) Richards; brothers-in-law Charles and Bill Gamber, David (Charlotte) Gamber, Howard Gamber, and Royal (Arlyce) Gamber ;and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Archie Davis; her daughter, Penny Gamber; son Andy Gamber; sister Judy Palmer, and Brothers-in-law: Rodney Gamber, Jack Gamber, Gary Gamber, and Randy Nelson; and mother-in-law, Ruth Nelson.
