Marlyn Brodersen, age 84, of Wolsey died Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at home in Wolsey, SD. Her memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Welter Funeral Home from 4-6 PM. Her memorial service will be live streamed thru JackienJim Hadlock Facebook Page .
Marlyn Huizenga was born September 25, 1935 in Huron to Kenneth R. and Florence (Fountain) Huizenga. She attended school and graduated from Hitchcock High School.
Marlyn married Jackie L. Brodersen on August 9, 1954 at Sioux City, IA. They started farming near Willow Lake in 1957, then moved to Vienna, SD, before finally settling in Wolsey, where they milked cows. Marlyn worked road construction with her husband Jackie as well as working at Raven Industries and M-tron Manufacturing.
Marlyn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hitchcock, SD. Marlyn delivered Meals on Wheels for many years as well as working at the State Fair. She was always on the go, ready to help her friends. She loved music and dancing, especially polka dancing. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Attending ball games was always fun for her.
Grateful for having shared in Marilyn's life are her sons, Randy (Val) Brodersen of Wolsey, Doug (Janet) Brodersen of Wolsey, Anthony (Karen) Brodersen of Wolsey, Michael (Rose) of Rosamond, CA; daughters, Jackie (Jim) Hadlock of North Pole, AK, Michelle Brodersen of Huron; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers: Monte (Jan) Huizenga of Hitchcock, SD, and Greg (Kay) Huizenga of Flagstaff, AZ; and sister-in-law, Myra Huizenga of Golden Valley, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
Marlyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jackie Brodersen; 3 brothers, Clayton, Kenneth, and Kirk Huizenga; and 2 sisters, Marilyn Lewallen and Carol Pribyl; and several nieces and nephews.
