Marlene Wilson, age 91, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Avantara in Huron, South Dakota. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday morning.
Marlene Hazel Byerly was born in Huron, South Dakota on March 18, 1932 to parents William and Myrtle (Jones) Byerly. She grew up in Huron with several brothers and sisters.
Marlene married Charles Wilson in Huron on September 25, 1971. Charles passed away in 1995. Marlene held many jobs in her life including hostess at the Hangar Restaurant, café at Magness Livestock, and as a pharmacy technician at K-Mart for 21 years. She served on the board at the Salvation Army for over 20 years where she ran the Angel Tree program. She also volunteered at the senior center and was a member of the VFW women's auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to BINGO. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Melissa) Wilson of Aberdeen, Becky (Ryan) Paye of Cavour; two grandchildren, Taylor and Lincoln Paye; two sisters-in-law, Barb Koonce of Huron, and Patricia Juhl of Miller; many nieces and nephews whom she loved as well.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; four brothers, Don, Victor, Paul and Billy Byerly; five sisters, Muriel Olmstead, Lois Wheeler, June Hanson, Madeline Craft, and Dorothy Miner and several brothers-in-law.
