Marlene Yvonne (Wood) Rudy, 85, of Cavour, passed away on December 10, 2021 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on February 24, 1936 in Winner to Roland W. Wood and Helen M. (Green) Wood. Marlene graduated from Huron High School in 1954 and later attended Northern State Teachers College.
Marlene married James L. Rudy on June 14 th 1956 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Together, Jim and Marlene worked their farm and raised two daughters. She was a part owner of "Touch of Country" gift shop in Huron. She was a member of the YWCA board, PEO, a Beadle County poll worker and an avid Democrat. Marlene had a special talent for decorating and cooking. She hosted many happy, family dinners and her home was always beautifully decorated for every holiday. She loved all kinds of music and had a lovely singing voice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James L. Rudy, her parents, step-father and granddaughter, Suzanne Berg.
Marlene will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Cynthia (Doug) Loen of Sioux Falls and Dianne (Gary) Brush of Pocatello, Idaho; brother, Gary (Patty) Wood of Huron, sister, Michelle (John) Lintz of Rapid City; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) Nehlich of Sioux Falls and Nichollas (Delanie) Brush of Olympia, WA; great-grandchildren, Penney and Eva Nehlich, William and Lorelei Berg.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Marlene will be buried at the South Dakota Veteran's Cemetery in Sioux Falls next to her husband, at a later date.
