Marlene Hillberg, age 79, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Avantara Redfield in Redfield, SD. Her funeral service will be on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Marlene Carole Hartman was born on December 6, 1940 to parents Walter and Ruffena (Getz) Hartman in Armour, South Dakota. Marlene grew up on Artesian and attended Mitchell schools and then Plano Consolidate, graduating in 1958.

Marlene married Robert Hillberg in Mitchell, SD on May 26, 1959. Robert passed away in 1992. Marlene and Robert made their home in Huron where she worked at The Plains Motel and Huron Regional Medical Center from 1986 until retiring in 2011.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Mary) Hillberg of Huron and Dale (Linda) Hillberg of Issaquah, WA; 4 grandchildren, Jessie (Justin) Johnson, Bobby (Darla) Hillberg, Kelsey Hillberg, and Haley (Victor) Hoezel; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Johnson and Lena and Ronan Hoezel; two brothers, Jerry (Jeannie) Hartman and Jack (Jeannie) Hartman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Lonnie Hillberg, and her sister Iona Vanoverschelde.
