Mark Rounds will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, love of music, and commitment to helping others.

He was born on September 13, 1952 in Huron to James and Janice (Bergerson) Rounds. Mark lived on the family farm south of Cavour with his 12 siblings.

Mark was a hardworking man who believed in giving back to his community. As a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he generously offered his time and support to those around him. His kindness and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impression on many.

Music was one of Mark’s greatest joys. A gifted and versatile musician, he played the guitar, banjo, upright bass, and seemingly anything with strings. Music remained an important part of his life and brought happiness not only to Mark but also to everyone fortunate enough to hear him play.

Above all, Mark cherished his family. He was the loving father of sons James, Charles, Jabe, and Kaleb and daughters Merrianne and Denise, and the proud grandfather of Marcel.

He was the beloved brother to Mary Rounds of Tulsa, OK; Dave Rounds of Midland, TX; Keith (Cathy) Rounds of Brookings; Kent (Nancy) Rounds of Glenwood, IA; Ann Salter of Dyersville, IA; Jeff Rounds of Huron; Gerry (Barb) Rounds of Aurora; Richard (Melissa) Rounds of Springfield, OR; Cathy (Dave) Eide of Watertown, and Brad (Toni) Rounds of Huron.

He is also survived by his aunts Marge Blue and Jeanette (Neil) Mees; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jabe; siblings Jabe and Janet; niece Elizabeth Wilson and brother-in-law Steve Salter.

Mark’s life was defined by hard work, service, music, and family. His generosity, determination, and the music he shared will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
