Mark Malikowski, age 53, of Wolsey, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Sanford (USD) Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD after a long battle with liver cancer. His memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5:00 p.m. until the start of the service on Friday. Mark Allen Malikowski, the son of Richard and Mary (Millett) Malikowski, was born on September 8, 1961 in Madison, SD. He spent most of his childhood years in Huron, SD. Mark cleaned carpets for 25 years and owned his own carpet cleaning business (Huron Carpet Cleaning). Mark met his wife, Joan Thoreson, on a goose hunting trip in 1994. They were married on May 6, 2006 in Wolsey, SD. Mark was a born again Christian with strong Christian values. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, and storm chasing. Thankful for having shared in Mark's life are his wife of 8 years, Joan Malikowski of Wolsey, SD; daughter, Cheyenne Malikowski of Wolsey, SD; son, Jacob Williams (Malikowski) of AZ; mother Mary Malikowski (Larsen) of Marvian Falls, NC; brother, David (Lori) Malikowski of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Teresa Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Sandi (Mark) CeFaretti of Winston-Salem, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Richard Malikowski; grandfather, George Malikowski; grandmother, Eleanor (Berndt) Malikowski; and step-father, Denny Larsen.
