Mark L. Kohlmeyer, age 65, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home. His funeral service will be on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM with his family present from 5-7 at Welter Funeral Home on Thursday, November 11, 2021. A Prayer Service will begin at 6:30 PM on Thursday Evening.

Mark Luverne Kohlmeyer was born on June 14, 1956 in Huron to parents Marcus and Phyllis (Friese) Kohlmeyer. Mark attended Jefferson Elementary and Huron Junior and Senior High School. Mark was united in marriage to Lisa Rice in 1976, they later divorced.

Mark started his working career at Huron Dressed Beef from 1976 to 1992. In 1992, Mark started working at Welter Funeral Home where he did maintenance and funeral assisting. Mark knew the funeral home like the back of his hand and took pride in how the home looked. Mark retired on June 1, 2021 after 30 dedicated years.

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed fishing and camping. He liked to go metal detecting and to tinker at his home and lake cabin. Attending garage sales and auctions was also fun for him, especially the wheeling and dealing. He also enjoyed attending car shows and showing off his latest cars and trucks. Mark was a life member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Phyllis; and several uncles and aunts.

Mark is survived by his significant other, Violet Kjellstrom of Huron; his son, Chad Kohlmeyer; two sisters, Nancy (Michael) Leyba of Sioux Falls and Marilyn (Terry) McHenry of Huron; his aunts, Corinne Kohlmeyer and Beverly Kohlmeyer and his uncle, Max Kohlmeyer, all of Huron.
