Marjory Berquist, age 96, of Huron, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 8, 2014 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Marjory Berquist was born on March 12, 1918 in Vivian, SD to Ralph and Madge (McLaughlin) Suiter. She moved with her family to Huron and attended Huron public Schools. She graduated from Huron High School in 1937. Marjory later attended cooking school in Brookings. Marjory married Delbert Berquist at American Lutheran Church in Huron on August 14, 1938. She loved being at home and raising her family. As her children became school age, she worked for several years in the kitchen at McKinley Elementary School. Marjory spent many afternoons with her close friend Alice Webster on the golf course. She was also an accomplished bowler, a sport that she and Delbert both enjoyed. Marjory also enjoyed ceramics, playing the card game Whisk, camping, traveling, and fishing. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Lutheran Ladies Aide, Alter Guild, taught Sunday School and ushered with her husband. Marjory is survived by her children, Mardel (David) Peach of Lacey, WA, Mark (Becky) Berquist of Huron; daughter-in-law, Dianne Berquist of Havre, MT; nine grandchildren, Cory (Nichole) Berquist, Cindy Keim, Brett Berquist, Robin (Joe) Allegro, Carrie (Todd) Bladow, Jay (AnnaLisa) Peach, Katy (Brian) Skoog, Christy (Jon) Corcoran, Joel Peach; 25 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; sister, Shirley Haxby of Rapid City; brother, Keith Suiter of Goose Creek, SC; many nieces and nephews. Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert in 2007; one son, Alan Berquist in 2013; two sisters, Carol Rawson, Bonnie Shortzman; and two brothers, Ronald Suiter and Stanley Suiter.
