Marjorie Webster, age 84, of Huron, formerly of Alpena, died Monday August 1, 2011 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron, SD. Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron,with burial at the Eventide Cemetery in Woonsocket, SD. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 4, at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Marjorie Nelson, the daughter of Emil and Verle (McWilliams) Nelson, was born on September 12, 1926, in Alpena, SD. Marjorie attended school and graduated from Alpena High School in 1945. Marjorie married Merritt Webster on September 6, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA. Shortly thereafter they moved back to the Alpena area, where they farmed and raised their family. Marjorie was a homemaker and farmer's wife. Marjorie and Merritt farmed side by side for 65 years in the Alpena area. Marjorie was a member of the Methodist Church in Alpena (now the United Parish of Alpena). She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping, and fishing. The couple was also able to enjoy over 20 years of wintering in Arizona. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Merritt, of Huron; daughter, Linda Schaffer, of Westminster, CO; her daughter-in-law, Delila Webster, of Alcester, SD; three granddaughters, Danielle (David) Vlastuin, and Darcie Webster, both of Wisconsin, and Becky Hultz, of Illinois; one grandson, Chris (Lori) of California; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Marsili of Lodi, CA. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her son Roy Webster; and three sisters.
