Marjorie Waits, of Huron, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron, South Dakota at the age of 92.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:30 A.M.at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron. with Father Michael Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5-7 PM with a prayer and rosary service to follow at the Welter Funeral Home.

Mary Marjorie Parquet was born on December 17, 1925 to Peter and Mary (Steichen) Parquet in Woonsocket, South Dakota. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School for 8 years before graduating from Woonsocket High School. Marjorie attended vocational school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In 1943, she lived in Arlington Virginia and worked for the Navy Department. She then worked for Morris Corporation in Morris, Minnesota and Tri State Milling in Rapid City, SD. She also worked as a secretary at various elementary schools in Huron.

On October 18, 1947 she married T.C. Waits in Woonsocket, South Dakota. They made their home and raised their children in Huron.

Marjorie enjoyed ceramics, crochet, and knitting, as well as bowling and traveling. She was also a volunteer with many organizations including; Meals on Wheels, RSVP, Senior Center, and St. Francis Shop. She was a proud member of Catholic Daughters of America for over 50 years, the Huron Area Senior Center, Bowling Leagues, and a square dance club. Marjorie was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her three sons: Richard (Frances) Waits, of Rapid City, SD, Michael Waits, of Cheyenne, WY, and Randy (Addie) Waits, of Sioux Falls, SD ;  two daughters: April (Richard) Marshall, of Hitchcock, SD, and Pam (Ken) Freeman, of Black Hawk, SD ; 15 grandchildren, Joan (Thane) Barnier, of Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole (Greg) Allen, of Colorado Springs, CO, Katie(Joe) Nolan, of Bellevue, NE, Tom (Anne) Waits, of Colorado Springs, CO, Adam (Laura) Waits, of Sioux Falls, SD, John Waits, of Boseman, MT, Ben (Rachel) Waits, of Sioux Falls, SD, Emilie (Josh) Klein, of Papillion, NE, Alex Waits, of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachelle (Mike) Munson, of Tracy, MN, David (Dawn) Marshall, of Wolsey, SD, Kristi (Jim) Winegar, of Huron, SD, DeeAnn (Kevin) Coss, of Oshkosh, NE, Chris (Jessy) Freeman, Cheyenne, WY, and Angela (Lyle) Wetz, of Vale, SD; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Berniece Schuster, of Anaheim, California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Waits on December 19, 2012, her parents, grandparents, and four brothers.
