Marjorie Gunderson, age 74, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, and formerly of Redfield, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 29, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Stacey officiating. Burial will be at Hutterthal Mennonite Cemetery, rural Carpenter. Friends may call after 3:30 PM Wednesday afternoon and evening or Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home. Marjorie Gunderson was born Marjorie Betty Hofer on November 2, 1929, to Ed and Mary (Kleinsasser) Hofer on a farm in Beadle County. She was baptized at the Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Yale. She attended grade school in the Doland area and also attended Doland High School. Marjorie married Francis Harrison in Minnesota in April of 1946. They lived in Beloit, WI, where Marjorie was employed as a waitress at the Wagon Wheel Cafe and the Logan Cafe for many years. On July 12, 1975, Marjorie married Robert Gunderson at Beloit, WI. They moved to Fort Myers, FL, where they lived for a number of years. Robert died on July 6, 1993. Marjorie moved to Redfield in 1999 to live with her sister, Loretta, and then moved to Huron in 2002 where she has lived since that time. Marjorie enjoyed golf and fishing and the people that she met as a waitress. She is survived by her son H.J. Harrison of Virginia; three grandchildren, Chance, Shelly, and Shana Harrison all of the Fort Myers, FL area; two great grandsons; two sisters, Loretta Olson of Huron, and Janice Spelbring of Ashville, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; one brother James; and one sister Violet.
