Marie W. Skinner, age 96, of Harrisburg and formerly of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, August 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home, or 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Marie was born on July 5, 1919 in Broadland, SD. She was united in marriage to Orrin Skinner on Nov. 13, 1937. They were Huron residents for many years and were known for their hand loomed rugs. Marie continued that tradition after Orrin's passing. Marie was very devoted to her family, and her sister Evelyn and sister-in-law Esther were her best friends. She moved to Harrisburg, SD in 2007 to be closer to her daughter and son-in law, Bonnie and Tom. Marie's hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading and taking long walks. She also loved playing board games with her family. Marie is lovingly remembered and will be missed by her four children. Two sons, Allen (Diane) Skinner of Summerfield, FL and Gary (Lieng) Skinner of Sioux Falls, SD, and two daughters, Janice (Dallas) Lien of Brooklyn Park, MN and Bonnie (Tom) Renner of Harrisburg, SD; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Alvin (Esther) Halbur of Huron; and 1 sister Evelyn Gifford of Rapid City. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Halbur, husband Orrin and two brothers Lester and Frank.
