Margie Peskey, age 80, of Huron died Sunday, March 2, 2014 in her home. Her funeral will be 2:30 pm Friday, March 7, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation with family present will be 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm the day of the funeral at Welter Funeral Home. Margie Jean Peskey was born on April 20, 1933 in Artesian, SD to Roy and Ceila (Dunn) Sargent. She attended school through the eighth grade at country schools near Artesian. She had to quit school to take care of her parents, whose health was beginning to fail. Margie met Edward W.K. Peskey Jr. in 1958 and the couple got married on December 9, 1962 at the Morningside Chapel in Huron, SD. She loved to talk to people, so Margie chose to work various retail jobs that allowed her to interact with the community. At the age of 58, Margie continued her lifelong love of learning and decided get her GED. As soon as accomplished her goal, she decided take the next step of going to college. Margie attended Huron University and eventually graduated from Dakota Wesleyan with a Bachelors of Arts degree at the age of 62. She worked for Lewis Drug for over 10 years before she had to retire do to health reasons. Margie enjoyed playing tennis when she was younger, doing crossword puzzles, and watching movies, especially Gone With The Wind. She truly loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and great granddaughter. Margie was member of the Morningside Mothers Club. Margie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ed Peskey of Huron; her daughter, Lynne Peskey of Huron; one granddaughter, Chesney Peskey of Huron; one great granddaughter, Rosalee Peskey of Huron; sister-in-law, Esther Sargent of Mitchell; serveral nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy (Bob) Nesbit, Floyd (Irene) Sargent, Melvin Sargent; several nieces and nephews.
