Marge Doherty, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Jannsen) Doherty, was born on April 23, 1929 in Larchwood, IA.  She attended school and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1947. Marge worked as a sales person at Sears, Hedblom's Clothiers, and Haley's Furniture and Appliance before retiring.

Marge married Menno J. Hofer on June 28, 1949 in Huron, SD.  They made their home in Huron where they raised their 7 children. Menno passed away on December 20, 1983.  Marge later married Bryce Haskett in Huron.  Bryce passed away in April 1995.

Marge was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.  She was a member of the Huron Senior Center and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.  Marge took advantage of any opportunity to travel. She enjoyed playing bingo with friends and pinochle with her family.  She truly loved the game of baseball and was a loyal fan of her Minnesota Twins.

Marge understood the gift that life is, and she took advantage of every opportunity to live her life to the fullest.  Her family and friends were the most important things to her. She was fiercely passionate about the things she believed in and even more so, about the people she loved.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; two sons, Bob and Jerry Hofer; and 8 brothers and sisters.  She is survived by children Dick (Joannie) Hofer of Melbourne, FL, Tony Hofer of Huron, SD, Judy (Gary) Oakley of Rapid City, SD, Rose (Ivan) Noack of Huron, SD, daughter-in-law, Karen Hofer of Pierre, SD, and John (Melissa) Hofer of Harrisonville, MO as well as 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to share our appreciation to the staff at the Huron Regional Medical Center Dialysis Unit for the incredible care and love they showed to our mother over the past three years.
