Margaret-Mary Brosnan Wilkerson, age 81, resident of Ocala Florida, formerly of Woonsocket and Huron South Dakota, passed away November 17, 2010 at Sylvias Hospice in Ocala, Florida.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, with burial at St. Wilfrid Catholic Cemetery in Woonsocket, SD.
Visitation with the family, will be one hour prior to the sevice at the church on Saturday, with a Rosary to begin at 10:00 a.m. Visit
Margaret-Mary Smith was born June 27, 1929, to Jack and Margaret-Mary Smith in Plankinton South Dakota. She attended school in Plankinton. Her family moved to Woonsocket, where she graduated. After completing her college education, she taught school in Pierre, SD. Margaret- Mary married Walter Brosnan on June 9, 1951.They settled on the family farm, where they raised their five children, while Walt farmed and Margaret-Mary taught school in Alpena, Woonsocket, and Huron.
After Walts death, in 1986, Margaret-Mary moved to Huron and continued teaching and substitute teaching. On November 9, 2001, she married Al Wilkerson of Ocala, FL. They made their home in Ocala.
Margaret-Mary loved gardening, watching her New York Yankees, and her Washington Redskins.
She is survived by her husband Al Wilkerson of Ocala, FL; sister, Jane Anne Allen, of University Place, WA ; her children, Peggy (Chris) Esser of Fargo, ND; John Brosnan of Mankato, MN; Pat Brosnan, of Sioux Falls, SD; Mike (Yvonne) Brosnan, of Huron, SD ; and Jane Anne (Greg) Parrish, of Indianola, IA ; grandchildren,Christine Esser, Josie Brosnan, Mary Brosnan, Grace Brosnan, Matthew Rhead, Danielle Rhead, Adam Rhead, Jackie (Derik) Kleinsasser, Laura Brosnan, Joe Jennings, and Jack Jennings; and great grandchildren, Addison Kleinsasser and Landon Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walt.
Memorials may be made in Margaret-Mary's name to the Huron humane Society, or to Hospice of Huron.
