Margaret R. Weier, age 94, of Las Vegas, NV, and formerly of Huron, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at Silver Hills Health Care Center at Las Vegas. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 30, at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning until time of service at the funeral home. Margaret Weier was born Margaret R. Engelbretson on May 15, 1910, to John and Anna (Johnson) Engelbretson at Huron. She attended school in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1929. On February 3, 1926, Margaret married William R. Weier at Elko, NV. They lived at Elko; Casper, WY; and Reno, NV, before settling in Las Vegas in 1950 where they made their home for 54 years. Margaret took care of her family whenever they needed help. Her mother, mother-in-law, and sister, Agnes, were taken into her home in their later years when they could no longer care for themselves, and Margaret gave them all of her love, care, and attention to make their final years pleasant and safe. Although, Las Vegas was her home, she loved family and friend get-togethers in Huron. She maintained her home in Huron at 1006 Iowa Ave. SE and spent many summer and fall seasons there over the years until recent poor health prevented her from making the trip from Las Vegas. Her door was always open, and she welcomed visitors with fresh baked delights, and hot coffee. She loved to reminisce about old times, and share a joke or two. She was a charter member of the Reformation Lutheran Church at Las Vegas and drove to church nearly every Sunday until she gave up driving at the age of 92. She was an avid reader and had a curiosity for science, finance, current events, and good recipes. She handled the bookwork for her household and gave solid and accurate advice in these areas to anyone who would ask. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William in 1978; 4 brothers, John, Jr., Emil, Roy, and Norman; 3 sisters, Agnes Wood, Bette Hauck, and an infant sister, Ruth.
