Margaret Cronin Lengkeek, age 85, of Dell Rapids and formerly of Huron, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Dell Rapids Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Dell Rapids. A private family service is being planned.
Margaret was born on May 9, 1934 in Huron, SD to parents Herman and Pauline (Hoffman) Reineke, Sr. She attended schools in Huron, graduating from Huron High School.
Margaret married Kenneth Cronin in Huron on October 17, 1950. He passed away on July 28, 1966. She worked at Huron Veterinary Hospital, Northwestern Realty and South Dakota State University. She was a member of Beadle County Chorus, Elks Club, First Lutheran Church Auxiliary, First Lutheran Choir, and South Dakota Association of Realtors. She also belonged to Compassionate Friends through First Lutheran Church. Margaret married Gene Lengkeek in Pipestone, Minnesota in July of 1980. He passed away in 2009.
Margaret loved to garden, embroider, sew, dance, play cards, and travel. She lived a life with determination and passion. She made the most of out every day and the best of every situation. She was a dedicated and loving mother, teacher, wife, and friend.
Grateful for being a part of her life are her children, Mark (Janice) Cronin of Elkton, Bryan Cronin of Brookings, and Kathy (Doug) Grovenburg of Dell Rapids; three grandchildren, Dustin (fiancé Desiree Rand) Grovenburg, Kenneth (girlfriend Kassy Mackenthun) Grovenburg and Katelyn Cronin Fox; and 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Faye Doolittle of Huron, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Edward Reinke and Herman Reineke; sisters, Minnie Holst, Evelyn Sundmacher, and Mary Bentz.
