Margaret Jockheck, age 96, of Tulare, SD, formerly of the Bonilla area, died Friday, January 3, 2014, in Tulare. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, at Bonilla First Presbyterian Church with burial at Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation with family present will be Friday, January 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m., or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Margaret Jockheck was born Margaret M. Renner, daughter of Fred and Susan (Engel) Renner, on January 20, 1917, in Bridgewater, SD. She attended country school in the Bridgewater area. She lived in Bridgewater, Gann Valley, and Virgil and following her formal education she performed domestic work for various families in the area. From 1933-35 Margaret, plus her aunt, and a close friend, lived in Huron and worked as cooks and general housekeepers at the House of Engels college-dorm for men on the Huron College campus. She then worked for Valet Cleaners until the time of her marriage. On June 22, 1945, Margaret married Donald Jockheck at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. Following Don's discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946, the couple moved to the Jockheck family farm near Bonilla, which they had purchased from his family, and farmed there until 1985. They sold the farm and moved to Bonilla. Margaret moved to Tulare to be near her daughter, Marilyn, in October 2004. She was a member of the Bonilla Presbyterian Church since 1947. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking. She is survived by 1 daughter, Marilyn (Ronald) Neeman of Tulare, SD; 2 grandsons, Ryan (Susan) Neeman of Roseburg, OR, and Sean (Shalene) Neeman of Wellingford, CT; 5 great granddaughters, Jade Neeman, Coral Neeman, Amber Neeman, Kiersty Neeman, and McKenna Neeman; many foster grandchildren and foster great grandchildren that Marilyn and Ron cared for over 42+ years; 3 sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don on February 12, 2004; 1 son Martin "Marty" Jockheck; 12 brothers and sisters, Henry, Freddie, Elizabeth "Betty" Klaas, Benjamin, August, William, Georgie, Melinda Renner, Louise Dunnick, Johnny, Floyd, and Rose Bartel.
