Marcella Malikowski, age 66, of Huron, SD, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at St. Martin Cemetery, Huron. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 30, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday night followed by a rosary; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Marcella Gross, the daughter of Sam D. and Elizabeth (Kleinsasser) Gross, was born on January 27, 1946, on the family farm near Doland, SD. She attended school and graduated from Hitchcock High School. Marcella married Larry Malikowski on October 23, 1965, at the St. Martin Catholic Church in Huron, SD. Marcella was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church and the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and served as usher for both churches for many years. Marcella enjoyed sewing, gardening, and fishing. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially visiting her grandkids. Marcella was always a friend to everyone she met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Grateful for having shared in Marcella's life are her husband, Larry of Huron, SD; two daughters: Candy (Ed) Peskey of Rochester, MN, and Windy (Eric) Zell of Cavour, SD; seven grandchildren: Coty Zell, Dustin Peskey, Miranda Gross, Noah Peskey, Grace Peskey, Erica Zell, and Ty Zell; six brothers: Vernel, Clifford, Allen, LeRoy, Victor, and Duane Gross; three sisters: Marlyce Spain, Mary Ann Gross, and Gladys Hofer; and many nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Sam D. and Elizabeth.
