Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial to follow at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 24th at the church; or one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Marcella Grace Myers was born December 28, 1935, to William (Hank) Henry Myers and Edna Grace (Smith) Myers in a country home South of Huron. She moved with her family to a farm on the Alpena Road in the third grade. She attended country schools until high school when she moved to an apartment in Huron where she worked for her room and board until graduating in 1953. After graduation she started working at the Huron Credit Bureau for 75 cents an hour until 1956. She met Earl Raymond Larsen and was married on February 26, 1955. After the wedding they traveled home to a farm North of Huron in a blizzard and later chivareed by family. After a few months of marriage, they took in Ivan's sons, Craig and Mike, while Ivan finished his military service. They lived on several farm sites until settling North of Huron in fall, 1961. They were a hard working farm family until Earl's semi-retirement in 1988. Marcella loved playing basketball in High School and later joined Huron's Women's Basketball League where she was a major force. She worked at the SD Farmers Union from 1959 to 1975 as a bookkeeper. Then she worked at the Social Security office for 27 years until her retirement on December 31, 2002. Other jobs she held in her spare time - SD State Fair for 32 years with 25 of those years as the Grandstand Manager; and NorthStar C Store. She lost the love of her life after 47 years on September 27, 2002. After her retirement, Mom launched her next career of Volunteerism. She was seen all over town in various volunteer jobs including HRMC Pink Lady since 2003 and Chairman of the HRMC Auxiliary since 2006, Huron Public Library, Federal Property, Huron Arena, Huron Nursing Home, Violet Tschetter Nursing Home, Relay for Life, Blood Donor - 3 gallon club, officer of the Credit Committee of JV Coop FCU until merging into DFCU, United Way Board, Red Cross, Secretary of Theresa Township School Board, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army/Angel Tree, NARFE, Lioness, Professional Secretaries International as officer of local chapter and NE-SD Division, member of Selective Service Committee, and Beadle County Democratic Women. She was a full-time, active member of the First United Methodist Church for over 45 years starting in the Alpena FUMC and transferring to Huron, holding numerous officer positions in Staff Parish, Finance, Memorials, Administrative Council, Sonshine Squad, United Methodist Women, District and Conference Board, Church Kitchen and Wednesday Nite Alive. She thought the best job of all was Mom and Grandma. Especially following Steven and Matthew in their Boy Scouts and keeping them busy updating her computer; and watching Wyatt and Blake in all their sports, particularly wrestling. She was on the way to a wrestling district tournament at the time of her death. There are many people in the community and beyond who will never know where help came from when they needed it most. Most grateful to have shared in her life are her children, Raymond (Ann) Larsen, Pierre; Shari (Loren) Mortensen, Huron; and Todd Larsen, Huron. Her grandchildren, Steven Larsen and Matthew Larsen, Rapid City; Wyatt Larsen and Blake Larsen, Huron; and Dusten Hayes, Wasilla, Alaska; and great-grandson, Beauwyn Estes, Aberdeen. Sisters, Margaret (Ralph) Lentz, Brownsville, Texas; Arla Mae (Delvin) Hoerth, Grand Island, NE; and Delane (Bob) Rains, Rapid City. Brothers-in-law, Arthur (Phyllis) Larsen, Redfield; Carl (Kathy) Larsen, Wessington Springs; Sisters-in-Law, Jan Myers, Minneapolis, MN; and Clara Mae (Delbert) Tschetter, Huron; and many Nieces and Nephews.
