Madonna G. Gamble, age 99, of Huron, formerly of Alpena, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at SunQuest Health Care Center in Huron.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. Wilfrids Catholic Church in Woonsocket with burial in St. Wilfrids Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday September 9, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron including a scripture service at 7 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Madonna Gertrude Gamble was born to Paul and Mary Ann (Brinnick) Gamble on June 18, 1911 on a farm near Alpena. She attended Carlyle Township country school for her first 8 years and then graduated from Alpena High School in 1929. The family moved into Alpena in 1930.
Madonna worked as a Telephone Operator at the Alpena Telephone Company for 30 years, and then worked as a book keeper for Propane Services of the Co-op of Alpena for 17 years.
She was a member of St. Wilfrids Catholic Church at Woonsocket until she moved to Huron in 2000, when she joined Holy Trinity Catholic Parish of Huron.
Madonna is survived by; cousin, Don (Gerry) Hlavinka of Hazel, SD; close friends, De Ann Christensen of Huron, Le Elda Higgins of Alpena, Wy Ann (Delayne) Tebay of Alpena, Golda Tebay of Alpena, Ray and Mary Jane Scherschligt of Alpena; and many cousins.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents and grand parents.
