Madelyne C. Saarie, age 90, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Huron, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Good Samaritan-Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, SD with burial at St. Martin Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with her family present, will be from 4-6 PM on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home.

Madelyne Catherine was born on November 1, 1931 in Huron, South Dakota to parents Edward and Grace (Scheidegger) Corcoran. She attended country schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1950.
Madelyne married Eugene C. Saarie on June 16, 1951 in Huron. Madelyne and Gene made their home in Huron, raising their daughter Catherine.
She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where she was active in the Alter Society. She belonged to PEO, Beta Sigma Phi (for over 60 years), was a member of the American Legion chorus and life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She retired from Sears Roebuck and then worked at F&M Bank and Marquette Bank. She loved ballroom dancing, gardening, canning, baking and having big dinners for friends. She loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Eugene; grandparents, parents and one brother Donald at birth; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Salter and Paul Hufnagel.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine "Cathy" (Dr. Ron) Cravens of Leawood, KS; three grandsons, Christopher (Kelly) of Arlington, VA, Scott (Kodi) of Stone Mountain, GA, and Travis (Janine) of Wichita, KS; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Elizabeth, William Michael and Charleigh Grace; two brothers, William "Bill" (Deanna) Corcoran of Sioux Falls and Michael "Mike" (Jean) Corcoran of Huron; two sisters, Arlene Salter of Sioux Falls and Blanche Hufnagel of Tulsa, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the South Dakota Alzheimer's Association in Madelyne's memory.
