Mabel Lyons, age 74, of 1940 Wisconsin Ave. SW, Huron, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery at Turton, SD. Friends may call this Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or Wednesday morning prior to the mass at the church. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 PM this Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mabel Frances Lyons was born on September 4, 1931, to Bernard and Melenda (Mannie) Lyons at Onida, SD. She grew up and attended schools at Onida. As an adult, she moved with her family to Huron in 1956, and has lived here since that time. She worked for 1 years at St. Johns Hospital in the housekeeping department, and later at J.J. Newberrys in the maintenance department for 2 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Mabel was a very kind and sweet person who was always smiling. She loved her church and the many church members that she knew over the years. She loved her family and knew all of the many family members by name. She is survived by 1 sister, Helen (Irving) Asmussen of Laredo, TX; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters, Mildred Davidson, Marcella Mercer, Margaret Peg Queen, Mary Hassebrek, and Bonnie Hiett; 3 brothers, Francis Lyons, Bernard Lyons, Jr., and Clifford Lyons; 4 brothers-in-law, Lloyd Davidson, Delbert Mercer, George Bud Queen, and Maurice Hiett; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Rose Lyons, and Thelma Lyons.
