Mabel Kinsley, age 88, of Huron, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Congregational United Church of Christ preceded by private burial of her cremated remains at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home. Mabel Kinsley was born Mabel Elizabeth Wilson, daughter of Otis Gordon "O.G." and Maude (Shimmin) Wilson, on February 19, 1923, in Murdo, SD. She attended Social School for 8 years and graduated from Okaton High School in 1941. She then attended Aberdeen Normal School for 1 year. Prior to her marriage, Mabel taught school for 2 years at Highland Country School, which was located one-half mile south of Darrel's family farm. On December 4, 1943, Darrel married Mabel Wilson at Pierre, SD. They lived on a farm north of Murdo until 1944 when they moved to a farm southwest of Carthage, SD, where they farmed for 37 years. They retired and moved to Huron in 1981. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron. Her interests included sewing and crocheting. She is survived by 1 son, Donald (Susan) Kinsley of Huron; 3 daughters, Jean (Wenton) Wormstadt of Artesian, SD, Joyce (Lyle) Burma of Iroquois, SD, and Susan Kinsley of Hill City, SD; 12 grandchildren, Carmen Kinsley, Chad (Sundy) Kinsley, Wendi (Jon) Gilbert, Cody (Erin) Kinsley, Marci (Ray) Effling, Clint (Michelle) Wormstadt, Renee (Jeremy) Hinker, Wade (Jodi) Burma, Teri (Brian) Detlefsen, Jacob (Karyne) Hewett, Joshua (Amanda) Hewett, and Luke (Seanna McNulty) Hewett; 24 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Maxine Wilson of Murdo, Martha Kinsley of Murdo, and Norma Kinsley of Murdo; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Darrel on March 27, 2002.
