Mabel Jensen, age 84, of Huron died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 7, 2015 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, March 6, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Mabel Rosina Berg was born on January 18, 1931 in Waubay, South Dakota to Abraham and Mathilda (Kezzler) Berg. She grew up in Akaska, South Dakota and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1949. Mabel married Francis "Bud" Jensen in Mobridge on September 5, 1949. The couple lived in Mobridge until 1952, when they moved to Huron. Mabel stayed at home until her children were in school, then she worked as a seamstress for Osborn Clothing Co. She later managed Fabrific Fabric Shop starting in 1974, until it closed. She then worked for Elna Sewing Center until she retired in 1994. Mabel truly loved to quilt and Thursdays were her favorite day of the week because she was able to get together with her friends and quilt at American Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle that was in the Plainsman and reading, especially her bible. Mabel was a member of American Lutheran Church, the American Legion William Reaves Post#7 Auxiliary, and was a member of a Sewing Club for many years. Mabel is survived by her two children, Steve Jensen of Black Hawk, Lynn (Nick) Nelson of Iroquois; seven grandchildren, Becky Jensen, Valerie Jensen, Fawn (Chris) Lamb, Colleen (Eben) Venter, Nicole Kettelson DVM, Steven Nelson, Jeanie Nelson; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren plus one on the way; one sister-in-law, Esther Berg of Mobridge; several nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud Jensen on August 31, 2004; two brothers, Ervin (Nina) Berg and Marvin Berg; and one nephew, Alan Berg.
