Mabel Grace Anderson-Bartholomew, age 85, of Oceanport, New Jersey, born and raised in Huron, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Orange Park, Florida. The burial service of her cremated remains will be at 11:30 AM Saturday, April 23, at Riverside Cemetery in Huron with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Welter Funeral Home. Mabel Bartholomew was born Mabel Grace Bergerson on January 1, 1920, to Ingvald and Anna (Jensen) Bergerson at Huron, South Dakota. She was a confirmed member of American Lutheran Church. Mabel attended public school and upon graduation from Huron High School she moved to Monterey, California, to live with her older sister Hilda and search for employment. She was accepted into Civil Service and worked in Monterey for a short time, then transferred to Washington, DC. When the war was over Mabel was offered a position at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where she worked until she retired in 1984. Mabel married Edward H. Anderson on May 10, 1947, and a year later they were blessed with a daughter, Jacleen. Their marriage ended in 1964. Mabel and Jacleen continued to make their home in Oceanport, New Jersey. Mabel married Dr. Curtis A. Bartholomew on March 10, 1965, and moved to Red Bank, New Jersey. They where together until Curtis passed away in May of 1999. She is survived by 1 daughter, Jacleen Anderson Alexander of Orange Park, Florida; 2 grandchildren, Nancy Ann (Phil) Shapiro of Reno, Nevada, and Carl S. (Harmony) Schneider, Jr. of Margate, Florida; 4 great grandchildren, Joshua Shapiro, Arielle Shapiro, Catherine Schneider, and Ellette Schneider; 1 sister, Jennie (Orie) Barringer of Norwalk, California; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Edward and Curtis; 3 brothers, Toralf Bergerson, Harold Bergerson, and Alvin Bergerson; 3 sisters, Hilda Scholl, Inez Jensen, and Nora McCart; 3 sisters-in-law, Edna Bergerson, Sylvia Bergerson, and Doris Bergerson; 3 brothers-in-law, Walter Scholl, Walter Jensen, and Hugh McCart; and 2 nephews and 1 niece.
