Lyle T. Newman, 87, Huron, SD died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Avera McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Visitation for Lyle will be 5 pm- 7 pm, Sunday, June 26, at Huron Christian Church, 777 21st. Street, Huron, followed by a prayer service at 7 pm.

Funeral Services will be at 3 pm, Monday, June 27, also at Huron Christian Church.  Graveside Services will be at 10 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Bonney Cemetery rural Forestburg.

Lyle was born on the family farm in rural Sanborn County, south of Cavour on August 18, 1928 to Thomas and Agnes (Rhoads) Newman.  He was raised there, attending country school through the eighth grade.  After his father died, he took over the family farm, where he spent his life working.

He married Anna Mae Miller in 1951, and together they raised their four children.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends dancing, playing cards and dominoes, watching cattle sales, and was very talented at repairing cars and tractors.

Later in life he met Joan Campbell and they spent many happy years together.

Lyle is survived by his special friend, Joan Campbell, Huron; son, Steve Newman, Huron; daughters, Julie (Kevin) Uttecht, Huron, Anita (Doug Ludeman) Newman, Chino Hills, CA, and Carol (Bill) Larsen, Wolsey; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Hoffman, Stephanie Jensen, Natalie Jensen, Jeremy (Rachel) Uttecht, Kelly (Lacey) Uttecht, Kyle (Corinn) Uttecht, Jayme (Cheyenne) Uttecht, Megan Larsen, Matthew Larsen, and Madelyn Larsen; thirteen great-grandchildren, Addie, Weston, Karter, Laken, Lexiny, Kaprice, Kaylee, Hudson, Leanna, Jaxon Uttecht, Lydia, Matthew and Jonathan Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Newman; sisters, Irene Newman, and Arlene Siefert; and brother, Leroy Newman.
