Lyle Lyman Loban, son of Lloyd and Winifred (Holcomb) Loban, was born on November 27, 1927, in Blairsburg, IA. He moved with his family to the Bruce, SD, area, and then to the Iroquois area where he graduated from Iroquois High School in 1945. He attended Huron College for a short period of time.

He drove truck in the Huron area, and also worked for his parents, who owned and operated the Dugout pool hall and Frostys.

Lyles many interests included buying/selling/collecting antiques; playing pool and repairing cue sticks and pool tables; watching Jeopardy and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on television; reading; watching football on television; and was always trying to learn something new.
