Luella (Lou) Larsen, age 83, of 476 Illinois Ave. NW, Huron, SD, passed away on May 27, 2009, at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron.
Her Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Webster Cemetery in Webster, SD. There will be no visitation.
Luella Frances Larsen, the daughter of Otto William and Mary (Eichler) Loessin, was born September 9, 1925 in Hammer, SD. Lou attended rural county schools in Roberts County, South Dakota and was extremely proud that she received her GED in 1970.
Lou married Alfred Lewis Larsen on May 28, 1945, in Webster, SD. Lou lived and worked in Hammer and Webster, SD, until 1976 when she moved to Huron, SD. She also farmed for many years. Lou was extremely proud that she personally designed and built the two homes where the family lived while in Hammer and Webster, SD.
Lou loved visiting with people and spending time with her family. She made friends easily. She loved to hunt and fish. Lou was also an avid football fan. She also enjoyed playing cards and putting together puzzles.
Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 sons Ronald (Ranae) Larsen, Lake Preston, SD,and Donald (Peggy) Larsen, Vermillion, SD; daughter, Linda (Dan) Pulse, Hill City, SD; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Orr, Vermillion, SD, Scott (Jessi) Larsen, Webster, SD, Jody Pulse, Hill City, SD, Dustin Larsen, Vermillion, SD, Ray Larsen, Lake Preston, SD, Melissa (Tom) Kribell, Alcester, SD, Patrick Pulse, Hill City, SD, Roxy Larsen, Lubbock, TX, Staci (Toy) Jonson, Black Hawk, SD and Rusty Larsen, Lake Preston, SD; seven great-grandchildren; special friends, Eric and Sherri Beckwith and family, Rob Borgan, Diania Harrington and Sharon Carlsen; and her loving sister Vandean Stave, Huron, SD.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred in 1971; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and a great-grandchild.
Memorials in Luellas name may be given to the family during the service in Webster, SD; or they may be mailed to the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD.
