Obituary

Lucy May Nettinga, 95, of Pocatello, Idaho, and formerly of Wolsey and Huron, died Aug. 24, 2006, in her sleep. Her memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Inurnment will be at the Wolsey Cemetery, Wolsey, South Dakota. There will be no visitation. Lucy Barnard was born May 29, 1911, at Dunseith, N.D., to Don and Elma (Sandvon) Barnard. She graduated from New Underwood High School in North Dakota and moved with her parents to a farm near Wolsey. She married Sam Nettinga Feb. 15, 1934. They lived on a farm west of Wolsey until moving into town when they retired. She moved to Huron in 1991 and to Pocatello in 2003. She loved sewing and quilting and all forms of needle arts. She made stuffed animals which she donated to the womens shelter in Huron as well as lap robes for the nursing home residents. She is survived by four children, Carol (Dave) Featheringill of Gladstone, Mich., Sam (Cleo) of Pocatello, Idaho, Paul (Nancy) of Custer and Jean (Don) Haneke of Morgan Hill, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 31, 1988, four brothers, four sisters, a daughter-in-law, Diane Nettinga, and a son-in-law, Don Schlueter. Memorials may be directed to the Mayo Foundation, 200 First St. S.W., Rochester, Minn.
